The core difference is actually very clear - energy healing is the collective name for all non-drug physical and mental adjustment methods with the core logic of regulating the human energy field and clearing energy blockages, while Reiki (Reiki) is a subcategory under the broad category of energy healing with a clear origin and fixed inheritance system. To put it bluntly, "Energy healing includes Reiki, and Reiki is a type of energy healing."

I have been practicing mind-body and soul healing for almost 7 years. When I first entered the industry, I often confused the two. It was only after I came into contact with more cases and students that I gradually figured out the boundaries between the two. Singing bowl healing, crystal healing, quantum touch therapy, flower essence therapy, and even the air conditioning treatment methods that many people have explored on their own, as long as the core is centered around the adjustment of the "energy" level, can all be classified under the category of energy healing.

Unlike many energy healing methods that do not have a unified inheritance and rely entirely on the personal talent and experience of the healer, the origin of Reiki is very clear. It was a healing system summed up by the Japanese scholar Usui Ong'o at the end of the 19th century during his retreat at Mount Kurama. It later spread to Europe and the United States and developed different branches such as Shambhala Reiki and Karuna Reiki. However, the core attunement rituals, basic hand positions, and healing symbols are all common. When I was teaching a first-level Reiki student a while ago, there was a girl who had been tinkering with energy healing for two years. She said that the conditioning she gave her friends depended on her condition that day. When she was in good condition, the effect was immediate, but when she was in poor condition, she couldn't even feel the energy. As a result, on the day after the Reiki attunement was done, she could clearly feel the warmth in her palms even if it was the first time she was being treated with fixed hand positions. This is the biggest difference between the inherited system and the scattered energy healing methods.

Of course, there is now a lot of controversy over the boundary between the two in the circle. Many teachers who do free energy healing feel that the framework of Reiki is too rigid. The fixed hand positions and processes limit the flexibility of healing, and it is difficult to adjust when encountering cases with special energy blockages. There are also teachers who do Reiki who feel that unsystematic energy healing is too unstable and relies heavily on the personal cultivation of the healer, making it difficult for ordinary people to get started. I encountered a very typical case last year. A young girl worked as an operator of an Internet company. She suffered from severe insomnia due to staying up late all year round. She first found a teacher who did free energy therapy, and he specifically cleared the anxiety blockage in her solar plexus. She slept for a full 8 hours that day. Later, she signed up for a first-level Reiki class and did 20 minutes of healing for herself in standard hand positions before going to bed every day. After three months of persistence, not only was her insomnia completely cured, but she also rarely suffered from recurring oral ulcers.

To be honest, to use an inappropriate analogy, energy healing is like the entire catering industry. Whether it is home-cooked food, Western food, private dishes or roadside stalls, as long as it is for people to eat, Reiki is like a standardized chain restaurant, with unified operating procedures and fixed production standards. Even a novice who has just received training can make meals with stable taste without major deviations. There is no absolute good or bad between the two, but the applicable scenarios and people are different.

Oh, by the way, I would also like to remind everyone that there is currently no clear research evidence in the mainstream medical community that can confirm the existence of the energy level. Whether it is Reiki or other energy healing methods, they can only be used as a supplementary method for daily physical and mental adjustment. If you really have an organic disease, you must go to a regular hospital first, and do not blindly rely on healing to delay treatment.
