One of the Osamu customs: Draw a picture and count nine
The Xiaohan solar term originally originated in the Yellow River Basin. It is said that in the early years, during the Xiaohan period, farmers in the Yellow River Basin used the "Nine-Nine Cold-Removing Pictures" to avoid the cold and maintain health. The Nine-nine-Ninth Cold-Resisting Picture is a double-hook red calligraphy "Weeping willows in front of the pavilion, cherish the spring phoenix", all in traditional Chinese characters, with nine strokes in each character, a total of ninety-nine and eighty-one strokes. Starting from the winter solstice, one stroke is filled in according to the stroke order every day, and one character is filled in every first nine. It is not until spring returns after the Nine-Nine that the Nine-Nine Cold-Resisting Picture is completed. The Xiaohan solar term coincides with the severe cold of March 9th, so the folk custom of "drawing a picture and counting nine" is closely related to the Xiaohan solar term. Counting by nine and tracing red calligraphy can not only relieve the cold, but also be regarded as a good way to relax and cultivate your health in winter.
