Dull pain under right chest in men

By:Eric Views:508

Dull pain on the right side of the chest in male patients is common for many reasons. Common ones are chest diseases and lung infections. Patients with pleurisy will have chest pain, which will also be accompanied by fever and cough and sputum. Symptoms of the sternum, such as costochondritis and costal neuritis, will also cause local pain, which will be aggravated after exercise.

1. Costal neuritis

It refers to the habitual pain that occurs in one or more intercostal locations and becomes progressively worse. It is mostly related to viral infection, endotoxin irritation, mechanical damage and foreign body compression. The pain characteristic is usually stinging or burning. The known causes are mostly related to thoracic organ disease (pleurisy, chronic lung inflammation, aortic aneurysm, etc.). There is also intercostal neuritis caused by herpes zoster virus infection, and costal neuritis can also occur. Treatment should determine the primary disease and then select appropriate treatment methods. It can also be solved with acupuncture physiotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture, massage and so on.

2. Thoracocostal arthritis

Commonly seen between the ages of 20 and 40, it is the most common cause of chest pain. Because the location of the pain is in the chest, the cause is usually related to trauma. Acute damage to the thoracic and costal cartilage occurs when transporting heavy objects, severe twisting, or extrusion of the chest. Or chronic muscle strain or viral infection caused by colds can cause edema and thickening of the sternocostal articular cartilage due to sterile inflammation. Illnesses can last for hours or days, but can flare up, often resolve within months, and some can last for years. Common treatments include applying heat, painkillers, and local injection of prednisolone acetate.

3. Pleurisy

The most common symptom is chest pain. Chest pain often appears suddenly, and the degree varies greatly. It can be an unestablished discomfort or a severe stabbing pain. It can only appear when the patient takes a deep breath or coughs, or it can persist and be aggravated by a deep breath or cough. Physicians can hear a squeaky friction sound with auscultation, called pleural rub. There are various causes of pleurisy, and further examination is required to confirm the diagnosis, such as chest X-ray, CT, blood test, etc. Further treatment will be provided after the cause of the disease is established.
