Brown leucorrhea may be related to ovulatory bleeding, before and after menstruation, vaginitis, cervicitis, endometrial polyps and other factors.

    1. Bleeding during ovulation

A brief drop in estrogen levels during ovulation may cause a small amount of uterine lining to shed, causing brown discharge mixed with leucorrhea. It usually lasts for 2-3 days and does not require special treatment. You can observe changes in secretions and keep the vulva clean.

    2. Before and after menstruation

1-2 days before the onset of menstruation or 1-2 days after the end of menstruation, the mixture of residual menstrual blood and leucorrhea may cause brown discharge. It is recommended to use breathable cotton underwear and avoid using sanitary pads for more than 4 hours.

    3. Vaginitis

Bacterial vaginosis or trichomonas vaginitis may cause brown discharge that is often accompanied by odor or itching. You can use metronidazole vaginal effervescent tablets, clotrimazole vaginal tablets or lactobacilli vaginal capsules as directed by your doctor, and avoid sexual intercourse during treatment.

    4. Cervicitis

Inflammation caused by ectopic cervical columnar epithelium or infection may result in contact bleeding manifested as brown leucorrhea. Cervical TCT and HPV examinations are required. After diagnosis, drug treatments such as Baofukang suppository and interferon suppository can be selected.

    5. Endometrial polyps

Polyps formed by endometrial hyperplasia may cause irregular bleeding and cause brown discharge. Ultrasound examination is recommended. After diagnosis, it can be treated by hysteroscopic polypectomy, and regular follow-up examinations are required after surgery.

Daily care should be taken to keep the vulva dry and clean, avoid excessive cleaning of the inside of the vagina, and choose loose and breathable cotton underwear. If brown leucorrhea lasts for more than 1 week, or is accompanied by abdominal pain, abnormal bleeding and other symptoms, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly for gynecological examination, secretion detection and ultrasound examination to rule out organic diseases.
