How to treat pubic lice in men

Pubic lice, as a parasitic disease, easily appear in women. Pubic lice usually live on the pubic hair or body hair around the liver. Patients should avoid sexual intercourse to avoid infecting others. Since pubic hair is a parasitic site for pubic lice, without pubic hair, pubic lice will lose the parasitic site they need. For complete treatment, it is generally required to shave off the pubic hair and then burn it to completely eliminate the environment where pubic lice thrive. In addition, the claws of pubic lice are very powerful, and they often grasp the hair shaft tightly and are not easy to separate. Therefore, shaving the pubic hair is a necessary treatment method.

(2) For drug treatment, you can choose Lindane lotion, shampoo or cream; malathion lotion; permethrine; sulfur ointment; 25% benzyl benzoate emulsion, etc.; all of them can kill adult pubic lice and eggs. If the itching is severe, antihistamines can be used to relieve it. If secondary bacterial infection occurs, antibiotics are recommended.

The patient should be followed up 4 to 7 days after the first treatment. If the symptoms disappear and there are no lice or eggs in the physical examination, the patient can be diagnosed as cured. Itching sometimes lasts for a period of time, mainly caused by allergic reactions, which can be treated symptomatically, but does not affect judgment. The prognosis is good.
