Why do testicles fall off?
The feeling of testicle dropping may be caused by diseases such as varicocele, inguinal hernia, testicular torsion or scrotal fluid accumulation, or may be related to physiological factors such as prolonged sitting and strenuous exercise. It is recommended to seek medical treatment promptly to determine the cause.
1. Varicocele
Obstruction of spermatic vein return will cause scrotal swelling, which is aggravated when standing and relieved when lying down. It may be accompanied by vermiform masses in the scrotum, which can be diagnosed by scrotal ultrasound. Mild cases can be relieved by wearing lifting underwear, but severe cases require high spermatic vein ligation. Commonly used drugs include Maizhiling tablets, diosmin tablets and other intravenous active drugs.
2. Inguinal hernia
The abdominal contents protrude into the scrotum through the inguinal canal, forming a reducible mass. The mass increases when coughing or standing, and can be reduced when lying down. It needs to be treated with hernia repair, either traditional open surgery or laparoscopic surgery. Avoiding heavy lifting can prevent the hernia sac from enlarging.
3. Testicular torsion
Sudden severe pain in the testicles accompanied by abnormal elevation is a urological emergency. Surgical reduction and fixation is required within 6 hours of onset, otherwise testicular necrosis may occur. The diagnosis can be confirmed by color Doppler ultrasonography before surgery, and it cannot be reduced by manual manipulation.
4. Scrotal effusion
Abnormal accumulation of fluid in the testicular vaginal cavity forms a cystic mass, and the light transmission test is positive. A small amount of effusion can be observed, but a large amount requires a sheath inversion operation. Secondary effusion needs to be treated for the primary disease such as epididymitis, and antibiotics such as cefaclor dispersible tablets can be used together.
5. Physiological factors
Long-term cycling and heavy physical labor may cause cremaster muscle fatigue. The scrotal temperature regulation mechanism causes the testicles to naturally droop in a high temperature environment. It is recommended to avoid sitting for long periods of time, get up and move around every 2 hours, choose breathable cotton underwear, and warm sitz baths can help relieve discomfort.
You should avoid wearing tight pants on a daily basis to reduce exposure to high temperature environments. If the scrotum suddenly has severe pain or continues to swell for more than 3 days, you need to seek medical attention immediately. Regularly self-examine the shape of the testicles. If you find abnormal lumps or changes in hardness, you should promptly go to the urology department for examination. Maintain moderate exercise to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles, but avoid weightlifting and other exercises that increase abdominal pressure.
