Pseudoprephiosis may be related to genetic factors, local inflammatory stimulation, abnormal penile development, obesity, poor hygiene habits and other reasons. Pseudoparaphimosis usually manifests as the foreskin turning up on its own to expose the glans when the penis is erect, but when it is weak, the foreskin covers the glans. Generally, no special treatment is required. If accompanied by uncomfortable symptoms, medical evaluation is required.
1. Genetic factors
Some people are born with a narrow foreskin opening or a short foreskin frenulum, resulting in pseudo-excessive foreskin, which may be related to family genetic tendencies. This condition usually does not require intervention unless there are recurring infections or difficulty urinating. Daily care should be taken to gently cleanse the smegma to avoid forcibly turning up the foreskin causing tearing. If phimosis is combined or affects normal functions, surgical treatment such as circumcision may be considered.
2. Local inflammation stimulation
Recurrent infections such as balanitis may cause edema and thickening of the foreskin tissue, resulting in pseudohyperprephiosis. Common pathogens include Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, etc., which manifest as redness, swelling, itching, or increased secretion. Treatment requires the use of anti-infective drugs such as compound ketoconazole cream and erythromycin ointment as directed by the doctor, while keeping the perineum dry and clean.
3. Abnormal penis development
Delayed foreskin retraction during pubertal penile development may result in temporary pseudohyperprephiosis. Most symptoms will naturally improve with age, and it is recommended to observe them until they are 18 years old before evaluating again. If it is accompanied by foreskin incarceration or urethral orifice stenosis, timely medical treatment is required, and foreskin expansion or orthopedic surgery may be used if necessary.
4. Obesity
The accumulation of fat in the groin will make the penis appear shorter visually and aggravate the phenomenon of foreskin covering. You can improve your appearance by controlling your weight and exercising more. Special attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the perineum of obese children to avoid intertrigo rash caused by moisture in the skin folds. You can wash it with warm water every day and then apply zinc oxide ointment to protect the skin.
5. Bad hygiene habits
Not cleaning off smegma for a long time may cause chronic irritation, resulting in a decrease in the elasticity of the foreskin. It is recommended to gently turn the foreskin up and clean it every day, and use a neutral shower gel to avoid over-cleansing. Infants and young children should not forcefully peel off the foreskin adhesions. Physiological phimosis before the age of 6 is a normal phenomenon, and the outer surface only needs to be rinsed.
People with pseudophimosis should choose loose and breathable cotton underwear to avoid friction and irritation from sitting or riding for a long time. Reduce the intake of spicy food in the diet to prevent local congestion, and supplement the vitamin B family appropriately to enhance skin resistance. If pain during urination, scarring of the foreskin or repeated infection occurs, you need to go to the urology department in time to rule out diseases such as true phimosis or hidden penis.
