Cervicitis may be related to your partner, but it is not entirely caused by your partner. Cervicitis is usually caused by pathogenic infection, local irritation, hormonal changes, decreased immunity, iatrogenic operations and other factors. It is recommended to seek medical treatment promptly to determine the cause of the disease and follow the doctor's instructions for treatment.
1. Pathogen infection
Cervicitis is commonly caused by sexually transmitted pathogens such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis. Unclean sex or having a partner carrying pathogens may increase the risk of infection. Patients may develop symptoms such as purulent discharge and contact bleeding. Azithromycin tablets, doxycycline tablets, levofloxacin tablets and other drugs are commonly used in clinical treatment, and the doctor's instructions must be strictly followed to complete the course of treatment.
2. Local stimulation
Long-term use of harsh vaginal washes, tampons, or contraceptive devices may damage the cervical barrier function. Mechanical friction or chemical stimulation can cause congestion and edema of the cervical mucosa, which can manifest as increased leucorrhea and painful sexual intercourse. It is necessary to stop using irritants, switch to mild care products, and use local drugs such as Baofukang suppository when necessary.
3. Hormone changes
Fluctuations in estrogen levels during pregnancy or perimenopause can cause the cervical columnar epithelium to migrate outward, and changes in mucus secretion can easily lead to secondary infections. This type of physiological cervicitis usually presents as light yellow discharge, which can resolve on its own. In severe cases, estriol cream needs to be used under the guidance of a doctor to adjust the local microenvironment.
4. Decreased immunity
Staying up late for a long time, being too stressed, or suffering from underlying diseases such as diabetes will reduce the local immunity of the cervix. Bloody leucorrhea and lumbosacral pain may occur when HPV persists and is combined with bacterial infection. In addition to anti-infective treatment, immune modulators such as thymosin enteric-coated tablets must be used to control underlying diseases.
5. Iatrogenic factors
Surgical procedures such as induced abortion and cervical conization may damage cervical tissue. Retrograde infection is prone to occur when the postoperative wound is not completely healed, and acute inflammatory manifestations such as fever and lower abdominal pain may occur. Antibiotics such as cefixime dispersible tablets need to be used prophylactically and reviewed regularly after surgery.
Daily care should be taken to keep the vulva clean and dry and avoid frequent vaginal douching. Cleaning up before and after sex and using condoms can reduce the risk of infection. Eat more foods rich in vitamin C, such as kiwi fruit and broccoli, to enhance the ability to repair mucous membranes. Sexual intercourse is prohibited during the acute phase, and a review is required after treatment to confirm that the pathogen has turned negative. If the disease relapses, it is recommended that your partner check simultaneously to rule out the possibility of cross-infection.
